After several days of painstaking rearrangement, Taichung Animal Shelter's Kitty House in Nantun Park was reopened in all-new form on November 1, 2016. Apart from continuing to provide a five-star environment for cats, the new Fun Kitty House now features "nursery tale, parent and child, and hide and seek" design concepts, and it has a warm and lively amusement park atmosphere. Taking cat welfare as its starting point, it has many small nooks in which cats can play hide and seek, and it also boasts kitty jumping platforms and specially-made cat scratching boards. It thus meets cats' need for privacy and mystery, and lets visitors ranging from preschoolers to adults interact with the cats. Everyone can pitch in to create different social environments for the cats, and the creative process reinforces the meaning of life and teaches participants how to properly care for animals. Taichung Animal Shelter's Nantun Park branch replaced its unwelcoming cat cages with a kitty house in 2014. The Kitty House has constantly sought innovation and change through such features as a simulated family environment, environmentally-friendly recycled carton imagery, and an amusement park theme. The Kitty House's open concept encourages visitors go inside and interact with the cats, which lets them observe the cats and get an understanding of how they would behave in a home. While appreciating the cats' magical grace, visitors can also learn about the cats they might want to adopt, which also helps them prepare to care for a cat after adoption. The Kitty House further helps the cats established trusting relationships with humans through their interaction with visitors. The Animal Protection and Health Inspection Office sincerely invites you to visit Taichung's distinctive Kitty House on a cool, crisp autumn afternoon. You can sit on the ground nearby and read for a while, recite a happy ode to love, and discover the cat's charm, pride, and curiosity. You can also use your creativity or use photographs or social networking posts to let even more people know about this "Fun Kitty House" made from building blocks. Let the cats teach you living education, and make sure to join us in supporting adoption and no abandonment: Yes, we can!
