Welcome to the Year of the Ox
Welcome to the Year of the Ox

The Houli Park branch of the Taichung Animal Shelter held its 2021 Good Neighbor event on during the two-day period of February 1-2. This event was jointly conducted by the Houli District's Jiushe Borough Office and Dunnan Borough Office, and the Taichung City Animal Protection and Health Inspection Office and local borough chiefs jointly invited local borough residents to attend. Apart from providing registered borough residents free rabies vaccinations, pet microchipping, and pet registration services, the shelter took advantage of the occasion to reach out to local residents on the theme of kindness to animals. Not only did the Health Inspection Office provide rabies vaccination to 34 dogs and cats, it also publicized the opening of the Houli branch shelter on April 4.

The Houli Park branch of the Taichung Animal Shelter is located at the boundary of the Houli District's Jiushe and Dunnan boroughs. We are grateful to Borough Chief Lin You-sheng of the Houli District's Jiushe Borough and Borough Chief Chen Hui of the Dunnan Borough for their staunch support of the shelter. These two borough chiefs served as channels of communication between the city government and local residents, and found a site that residents were familiar with for the event. They have not only continuously promoted animal disease prevention, but have also helped the Health Inspection Office continue to offer services to residents. We join these public-spirited borough chiefs in hoping the Houli Park branch can become a brand-new local landmark, and will spur local prosperity by attracting many visitors.

The Houli Park branch of the Taichung Animal Shelter will begin trial operation on March 2, 2021. During the trial operation period, the shelter will be open to the public for visits and the adoption of dogs and cats. In addition, the Animal Protection and Health Inspection Office will provide information concerning a series of pre-opening warm-up activities; we ask interested members of the public to continue to check the Health Inspection Office's website for the most up-to-date news.
