Message from the Chief The vision of our organization, with an aim to facilitate the public with innovative ideas, includes zealously reinforcing the disease control system, maintaining the hygiene of livestock products, fulfilling the ideal of animal protection, ensuring health and welfare of animals, and establishing a sound and humane management system for stray dogs. Furthermore, Taichung Animal Shelter, the first one founded under the idea of animal protection in Asia, was completed and inaugurated on October 10th, 2001, providing the citizens with a fun and educational space. Our future development will focus on: 1. Popularizing the self-defense system of disease control and upgrading the medical standard among stock farms. 2. Fulfilling the enforcement and popularization of the Animal Protection Act to improve the welfare of animals. 3. Reinforcing the veterinary service system, developing professional proficiency, and optimizing the resource for epidemic disease control. 4. Improving the recreational and educational functions of Taichung Animal Shelter, equipping citizens with the concept of animal protection, and promoting the Wan Gao Liao Scenic Area to enhance prosperity of the community. To attain the goals above, assistance from the authorities concerned and the representatives in Taichung City is fully expected. Opinions from our citizens are also welcome to improve our performances.
