Taichung Animal Shelter Brief Introduction

Nantun Campus

Purpose

The Nantun Campus of the Taichung City Animal Shelter, which opened on October 10, 2001, was planned on the basis of the Animal Protection Act and the city's developmental focal points. This shelter campus is intended for the temporary housing and management of stray animals running loose that have been caught during routine patrols, as well as pets that city residents are legitimately unable to care for, and seeks to provide a good care environment. The campus has an area of 11,900m2; apart from guided tours and exhibitions, it also accommodates outdoor instruction for elementary and middle school students and provides residents with a place for weekend and holiday recreation. The campus seeks to educate city residents in correct animal protection and pet care concepts, and encourages adoption as a means of resolving the city's stray animal problem.
