What features does avian influenza have?

Mutations in the virus can rapidly develop. If avian and human influenza viruses were to simultaneously infect a person or an animal, the two viruses might swap genes and generate a new virus that is readily transmissible among human beings and against which human beings will have no natural immunity. The virus can survive inside the body for ten days.
