Minimally invasive surgery involves surgical procedures conducted through multiple small incisions, assisted by endoscopy and various imaging technologies, and offers the advantages of small wounds, minimal blood loss, and rapid recovery. Minimally invasive surgery also minimizes trauma without compromising medical efficacy, and can greatly reduce the chance of infection, pain, and hospitalization time. After the surgery is completed, the patient can resume activities as soon as anesthesia has worn off. As a result, the use of minimally invasive surgery has become a growing trend in human surgery departments. This year Taichung City Government has joined forces with the Taichung City Veterinary Medical Association and the Show Chwan Healthcare System's LegendPet Hospital in promoting the application of minimally invasive surgery in veterinary medicine. We hope that apart from providing medical benefits, minimally invasive surgery will also reduce the pain and suffering of the treatment process, make treatment safer, and benefit furry kids.

Since establishing a minimally invasive veterinary medicine Center, LegendPet Hospital has actively promoted the application of minimally-invasive endoscopy in the treatment of pets, and also provides free spay and neuter service to the city's animal shelters. This year the hospital continued to offer three sessions of the "Minimally-invasive Endoscopic Surgery Training Class" on a cooperative basis. Only four veterinarians may participate in each session of this elite training course, which is taught in person by Prof. Li Wei-min of the Department of Veterinary Medicine, NCHU. By training more veterinarians who are able to perform minimally invasive surgery, this class is boosting the quality of pet medicine in Taichung, and bringing Taichung one step closer to its goal of becoming a happy, animal-friendly city!
