Combining cultural creativity, DIY crafts, and educational talks Spending a productive weekend at the pet-oriented 66 Bazaar

This year's annual 66 Bazaar was held once more on a fall weekend. The event's theme this year was "Let's go for a stroll," and it was held at Houli Environmental Park and the Animal Shelter's Houli campus on October 5 and October 6. Apart from many animal-related and cultural and creative booths, there were also talks on pet-related subjects, and dog owners could let their furry kids run and play in Houli Environmental Park. Owners could also attend talks held in the auditorium of the Houli Animal Shelter on the topics of animal behavior training and the care of aging pets. The wide range of activities in this event ensured that both animals and humans enjoyed a happy and productive weekend.

Located next to the Animal Shelter's Houli campus, Houli Environmental Park offers expansive grassy spaces and a dog park, where furry kids can run and frolic freely. The 66 Bazaar has been held at Houli Environmental Park and the Houli Animal Shelter since 2021, and has become an animal-friendly bright spot in Taichung City's calendar. This year's 66 Bazaar featured various animal-related cultural and creative booths, including charming pet caricatures and unique and distinctive pet products, and animal protection public interest groups offered a Knowledge King reward points activity. The bazaar attracted a wide variety of businesses and groups, which did their best to promote respect for life. The 66 Bazaar induced many residents to visit the animal shelter, where they strolled and took photos of the white shelter building's architectural design, and enjoyed its charming public art. Visitors also had chances to interact with the shelter's dogs and cats, which left them with heart-warming memories.

The animal shelter's design concept reflects its three-fold mission of preparation for adoption, tourist recreation, and education and awareness. We invite city residents to come visit the Animal Shelter's Houli campus; even if they have no adoption needs, they can still enjoy a fun day out. Beyond giving a boost to the animal shelter's visibility, we hope that the 66 Bazaar also drew even more people's attention to animal welfare issues, and will promote kindness to animals. Join us in working together to make Taichung into a truly animal-friendly metropolis!
