On November 22, the Health Inspection Office held the 2024 Animal Protection Volunteers Final Meeting and Awards Ceremony to thank the animal protection volunteers for their hard work during 2024. At this event, Elite Awards were given to the 3 volunteers with the greatest number of service hours, and other volunteers were given certificates of appreciation in recognition of their selfless spirit and contributions. Because three recipients of the Elite Award had all served as volunteers for a full year and performed more than 100 hours of service, they were also granted the pink vests of senior volunteers.
The members of the Taichung animal protection volunteer team are full of passion and enthusiasm for their work. The number of volunteers in 2024 increased a bit from last year, and a total of 88 volunteers donated their time and energy during the year. The volunteers' efforts contributed significantly to the success of the Health Inspection Office's various animal protection activities, and assisted implementation of the city's animal protection and animal welfare policies. The Health Inspection Office is grateful to all volunteers and hopes that they will continue to work with the public in creating an even better animal protection environment. The annual meeting also served to give volunteers a better understanding of the volunteer team's current state of operations. In discussion of how to make the volunteer team more effective and cohesive, many volunteers eagerly offered various ideas and feedback. The meeting also featured a retrospective look at the activities of 2024 in which the volunteer team participated, including assisting with weekend public dog and cat adoption services at the Houli Animal Shelter, the 66 Bazaar, Taichung Residents' Picnic Day, and dog exercise, taking dogs out for sunbathing, basic grooming, and dog training classes. Throughout their service and participation in training, the volunteers reaped an abundant harvest in body, mind, and spirit.
The Health Inspection Office's volunteer team will continue its animal protection service, and look forward to even greater achievements. We hope that future volunteers will work seamlessly as a team, overcome all challenges, and continue to contribute to animal welfare. If you are interested in becoming an animal protection volunteer, please continue to watch the Volunteer Service area of the Health Inspection Office website for sign-up information.
