The Health Inspection Office teamed up with the Healing Dog Psy Studio to hold an in-depth animal protection education program for kids with therapy dogs serving as teaching assistants. This program started in March with a session that lasted more than two months at Sheeng San Elementary School, where a class was held for a limited number of students each week. The program was later conducted at Jyun Gong Elementary School in September. In addition, results presentations were held at Sheeng San Elementary School on April 18 and at Jyun Gong Elementary School on November 4. These presentations gave the participating kids a chance to show what they learned, and let parents, teachers, and other students see the therapeutic power of animals, and the positive changes it can bring when combined with counseling and guidance.

This program featured a small-class system and use of social workers and psychologists with counseling training to handle the therapy dogs. Multiple class sessions focusing on group activities helped kids who needed concern the most learn how to get along with and interact with dogs. In the classroom, the therapy dogs served as little teaching assistants, and successfully got the kids, who had not previously been interested in their classes, to learn knowledge about animals. These students listened attentively to methods for getting along with dogs, and learned to lower their voices and move gently when taking part in practical training. As a result, they learned how to show respect for a dog, which gradually influenced their attitude toward other people. At the final presentations, the kids gave their own talks, and they displayed great self-confidence while at the podium. They enthusiastically showed off their learning results, and explain to other students how to get along with dogs. At the same time, through their experience, they also transmitted the concept of love for animals to their teachers and classmates.

This educational program added a very memorable variation to the kids' elementary school lives. Apart from teaching them the importance of empathy, they also made friends with the therapy dogs, and the experience planted the seeds of love of animals and respect for life in their hearts. At each year's final presentations, the teachers praised the program's ability to boost kids' sense of identity. The participating students learned to self-confidently express what they were thinking, and the program also enhanced team cooperation, interpersonal communication, and problem-solving skills. The Health Inspection Office hopes to use various media to promote mutual growth and companionship between humans and animals, and looks forward to realizing the possibilities of more encounters between different lives.
