The Taichung City Animal Protection and Health Inspection Office was invited to participate in a movie promotion event held at the Taichung Intercontinental Baseball Stadium on June 5, 2026. Combining the CTBC Brothers professional baseball game with the promotion of the movie "Supergirl", the movie trailer featured the thrilling adventure story of Supergirl's protagonist, Kara Zor-El, and her companion dog, "Krypto", which is incredibly exciting. By combining baseball and film with animal protection issues, the event conveyed to the public important concepts such as respecting life, fulfilling pet ownership responsibilities, and adopting pets instead of abandoning them.
The dog character "Krypto" in the movie was rescued by the female protagonist from ruins as a puppy. His originally dirty fur turned beautifully white after being well cared for. As he grew up, he showed a deep bond of companionship and trust with his owner, allowing the public to feel that pets are like family. The Health Inspection Office produced a 30-second adoption promotion video, which was played on the big screen at the Intercontinental Baseball Stadium, introducing the dogs waiting to be adopted at Taichung Animal Shelter's Houli Campus to spectators. The video showcased the dogs' lively and affectionate nature, hoping to give more people a glimpse into the reality of shelter, understand their longing for family companionship and warmth, and thus increase adoption rates. Many of the dogs at the shelter have stable personalities and are suitable for family life, but lack opportunities to be seen. It is hoped that the high popularity and lively atmosphere of the baseball game will increase the animal shelter's exposure, and the public is welcome to visit Taichung Animal Shelter's Houli Campus at their leisure to experience the warmth and energy of the pets firsthand.
The Health Inspection Office set up an interactive information booth near the stadium entrance, featuring a "Microchip Scanning Game" to introduce pet registration information and its importance to the public in a fun and engaging way. By operating the scanner, the public learned about the Animal Protection Act, including the requirement for microchipping dogs and cats, pet registration, and regular rabies vaccinations, thus instilling correct pet ownership concepts in daily life. Pet registration is not only a legal obligation but also a crucial way to protect pets. If a dog or cat goes missing, the microchip can quickly identify the owner, significantly increasing the chances of finding them.
The Health Inspection Office continuously deepens public awareness of animal protection through public-private partnerships and diverse methods such as school education, market events, lectures, and promotional booths. This year, combining baseball games and movie topics not only makes the promotion more relatable but also conveys the most precious emotional connection between humans and animals through the story of "Supergirl" and "Krypto" protecting each other. It puts the concept of respecting life and treating animals kindly into practice in daily life, making Taichung a friendly city where humans and animals coexist harmoniously.
